Functional Skills are applied qualifications which enable students to demonstrate real-life skills in mathematics.
Students demonstrate the skills through real-life assessments set in every day contexts.
This course will help you to improve your maths skills.
As a “functional” qualification, you’ll be taught how to use maths in real life, day to day contexts.
This type of qualification is a nationally recognised, “gateway” used in many existing apprenticeships and for those who may not yet have achieved a GCSE grade 4 (C) or above.
The course is assessed by a timed assessment under exam conditions.
There are no formal entry requirements, only a positive attitude and a determination to work hard.
You will be asked to sit an initial assessment so that we can identify the level you are currently working at, and over the first six weeks of the course, your teacher will help diagnose any areas for development.
Whatever support you need, we’re here for you and will make sure you get the most out of your time at college. We have expert teams in place to look after every single one of our students.
