This nationally recognised qualification covers industrial, commercial and domestic electrical installations and is ideal if you are interested in a career as an electrician.
You will spend a large amount of time in a simulated working environment learning all aspects of electrical installation works.
Time will also be spent within the classroom teaching you the fundamentals of electrical installation theory.
You will study the following units:
Two GCSEs grades 4 or above, in both Maths and English.
Throughout the course, we’ll monitor your progress and provide constructive feedback to help you to improve where needed.
We’ll measure your skills and knowledge against nationally recognised standards specific to the construction area.
We assess you in a range of ways including practical tasks and projects from which you’ll create a portfolio of evidence, set online exams and written coursework and assignments.
A highly motivated team of industry specialists with a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of vocational trades will make up your teaching team.
Our aim is to work with you to support you to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to succeed in the construction environment.
If you have the right attitude and commitment, we can support you to become who you want to be.
All learners are encouraged to find their own work experience using this link.
It lists all registered electricians in the area of their postcode. In addition to helping find work experience our Business Support Officer arranges site visits, employer talks, recruitment events and other work-related activities.
This is a key part of all electrical qualifications, that can also lead to more employment opportunities.
Our Skills Academy for Construction is a purpose built centre with dedicated workshop space for each construction trade.
There may be costs for uniform and equipment.
We’ll let you know more about this at our enrolment events and will help you to source the relevant items through our preferred suppliers, ensuring you get the best rates.
Plus, there is funding available to help cover some of these costs, if you meet eligibility criteria. Students are required to purchase safety boots to be worn during workshop-based lessons.
This is a qualification that tests both practical and knowledge-based skills in a realistic working environment.
When you have successfully completed this qualification, you will be at an Improver/Electrician’s Mate level.
After this course, you can work in the electrical industry or you can continue your training to Level 3 to be a step closer to becoming a fully qualified electrician.
This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
