The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science is a hands-on, career-focused qualification designed for students who are passionate about science and want to explore how it’s used in the real world.

Equivalent to three A-Levels, this two-year course covers a mix of biology, chemistry, and physics, along with exciting topics like forensic science, medical science, environmental science, and biotechnology.

What makes this course so interesting is that it’s not just about learning theory—you’ll carry out experiments, research projects, and practical investigations to develop problem-solving and analytical skills.

If you enjoy getting stuck into experiments and learning through doing, this course is a great choice!

By the end of the course, you’ll have loads of options.

You could go to university to study subjects like biomedical science, environmental science, forensic science, or pharmacology.

Or, if you’re ready to jump straight into work, you could start a career as a laboratory technician, research assistant, or quality control analyst in industries like healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or forensic science.

This qualification is perfect for anyone who loves science and wants to build a future in a scientific career. Whether you see yourself working in a lab, solving real-world problems, or making discoveries that help people, this course gives you the knowledge and skills to take that next step.
