This course provides the skills and underpinning knowledge you need to become recognised as a bricklayer.
You will gain practical experience in our fully equipped professional workshops.
As well as bricklaying, you will learn about arches and openings, various types of walling and all aspects of building.

You must have a full Level 1 qualification in a relevant area.
You will be assessed against awarding body assessment criteria through a range of both theory and practical assessments.
You will be required to pass all assessments to complete the qualification.

You will be required to carry out work experience to allow you to get an understanding of what it is like to work in the construction environment.
Once you’ve passed the HS&E test you’ll be able to gain work experience with local companies to practice the skills you learn at college in the real world.
Gaining this experience is ideal for moving onto an apprenticeship or full-time employment.
You’ll train at our purpose built Skills Academy for Construction which is kitted out with dedicated workshop areas for each trade.
This qualification will help you to build the industry skills, knowledge and behaviours you need to start your career in bricklaying.
After the course, you can progress to our Level 2 apprenticeship, if a vacancy is available.
This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
