You will be introduced to a variety of experiences that explore a range of two-dimensional and three-dimensional media, processes, techniques and new media.

You will explore the use of drawing for different purposes, using a variety of methods and media.

You’ll build a portfolio of your work throughout the year and explore images, artefacts and resources relating to a range of art, craft and design from the past and from recent times, including European and non-European examples.

You’ll also complete practical and written assignments.

What can I study with this A Level?

Many students choose to study media, English Literature, English Language, sociology or psychology depending on their long-term destination.

Required Entry Qualifications

In order to study A-levels with us, all students need to obtain a strong GCSE grade profile, averaging 6 x Grade 6s. You must also have passed maths and English at Grade 4 or above and meet the specific subject requirement below.

In Art, you will be expected to have have a portfolio of your own original work. You will need a GCSE Grade 6 in Art or art related subjects and a 6 in English Language.

However, if you do not meet this profile, please still come to one of our enrolment events to discuss all of your options with a member of our A-level team.

Each level lasts one year; an AS Level is one year and an A Level is one year.

Once you complete an AS Level, you can progress to the A Level.

After completing two years (AS and A Level) most students choose to progress onto a degree course at university in subjects such as:

Clerical: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
