You will explore the use of drawing for different purposes, using a variety of methods and media.

You’ll build a portfolio of your work throughout the year and explore images, artefacts and resources relating to a range of art, craft and design from the past and from recent times, including European and non-European examples.

You’ll also complete practical and written assignments.

What can I study with this A Level?

Many students choose to study media, English Literature, English Language, sociology or psychology depending on their long-term destination.

Required Entry Qualifications

In order to study A-levels with us, all students need to obtain a strong GCSE grade profile, averaging 6 x Grade 6s.

Individual subjects will also have their own specific requirements. In Art, you will be expected to have have a portfolio of your own original work.

However, if you do not meet this profile, please still come to one of our enrolment events to discuss all of your options with a member of our A-level team.

Assessment methods include:

  • Frequent Topic Tests
  • Mock Assessments
  • Practical Assessments
  • Exams

Each level lasts one year; an AS Level is one year and an A Level is one year.

Once you complete an AS Level, you can progress to the A Level.

After completing two years (AS and A Level) most students choose to progress onto a degree course at university in subjects such as:

  • Fine Art
  • Photography
  • Teaching
  • Graphic Design
  • Curating
