Julie nets Scotland role

Our Head Netball Coach Julie Kimber has scored the top role of national Head Coach for the U17 Scotland squad.

Julie will coach the Scottish side on a weekend while continuing to offer expert coaching to the college’s Netball Academy players at our Academy for Sport at Gateshead International Stadium.

She said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to be selected for the Scotland role and can’t wait to get started.

“Every coaching experience brings new challenges and opportunities to further my skills and I’ll be keen to bring any new learning to my role at the college.”

Julie, who is also AoC Sport National Head Coach was previously National Head Coach for the Northern Ireland Senior squad as well as the Zambian National Technical Coach. She is also North Durham County Performance Lead and U16 Head Coach and has recently been appointed as North East Regional U15 Head Coach. Julie currently plays for Boldon in the North Durham and North East regional league where she is also the Senior Head Coach.

Julie will work alongside an assistant an apprentice coach and team manager to hold trials and select the final Scotland U17 squad at the end of October. The side will then be training and playing to work towards their first major Netball Europe competition to be held in England in February 2022.
