Support for Students

As a full-time student we work hard to make sure that studying at college is an enjoyable and rewarding time of your life.

When you start your course you will be given a personal tutor who can help you with course related or personal problems.                      

We also offer a range of specialist support services to give you the best possible chance of success on your course:

Information, Advice & Guidance - We can help and support you in making the right choices about education, training and future plans by providing information about our courses and the support services available to you. Attendance Monitoring - If there are any issues stopping you from coming into college, help is at hand.  Contact our Student Engagement Mentors to find out about what support may be available on 0191 490 2323/2340 or email attendance.monitoring@gateshead.ac.uk

Learning Support - The Learning Support Team provide a range of services to support students who have additional support needs.  An initial assessment of individual needs can be arranged, call 0191 490 2253 [voice] or 0191 490 1477 [minicom] or email learner.support@gateshead.ac.uk .

Financial Support  - For information and advice about EMA, Adult Learning Grant, Learner Support Fund and funds which might be available to support the costs of learning, contact our Support Funds Team on 0191 490 2355/2299 or email support.funds@gateshead.ac.uk

Welfare Adviser - Confidential support is available from our Student Welfare Adviser on personal or course related issues. Help is also available to young parents and pregnant teenagers.  You can contact the Student Welfare Adviser direct on 0191 490 2243 or email support.worker@gateshead.ac.uk
