Whilst studying the Level 3 Sport Studies for Individual Sports course at Gateshead College Nathaniel Scott has been taking part in competitions all over the world. The student, 18, from Jarrow has now reached new heights becoming a member of GB Double Mini Trampoline team.
Nathaniel has come out on top producing medals for 3rd position in the European Championships held in Portugal and bronze with Team GB at the World Championships held in Bulgaria.
Along with training 7 times a week in Gateshead and Jarrow he studies a full time course. Nathaniel said:
“Gateshead College have given me a great deal of support by offering me a flexible timetable. This allows for me to take time off for competitions, to be trained to the highest standard possible and extra support throughout my studies”.
Nathaniel’s Strength and Conditioning coach Ross Drummond added: “Nathaniel has worked extremely hard over the last year to achieve success in his events. He is a hardworking, honest student and is a pleasure to work with. I wish him all the success possible for future events.”
Adrian Pegg, Lead Practitioner at Gateshead College commented on Nathaniel’s success this year. “Nathaniel has demonstrated a committed attitude towards his academic studies whilst balancing his sporting aspirations. He is very enthusiastic and has an overall great work ethic.”
Nathaniel, who also trains at Middlesbrough, is hopeful for the future and is also looking ahead. He plans to compete in the World Championships held in Florida during November this year and to further his training for the next 5 to 10 years.
