Finding a new job is rarely easy. So we go out of our way to hopefully make things as simple as they can be. Closing times, unless otherwise specified within the advert, are at noon on the closing date. Any applications received after the closing date cannot be considered. Short listing is carried out by members of the interview panel and is based on an assessment of the information you have provided on your application form against criteria defined on the personnel specification. Only candidates who meet the essential criteria can be short listed. Interviews at the College, as well as giving you an opportunity to see what it is like to work here, will give you a fair opportunity to show us your stuff. Our interviews don't just look at examples of what you've done in your career so far, but also at how and why you've done what you've done. As part of our Equal Opportunities Policy, all interview panels will normally consist of at least three people and will include both men and women. You may be asked to take a test during your selection process, but for most of our jobs, you'll be told beforehand if there will be a test involved, but it may be:
It really depends on the job you want! You will find with the vacancy details a job description and attached to it the person specification for the role. This will give you details of exactly what were looking for in our ideal candidate, and will give you an indication of what we're looking for in your application form and at interview. Acknowledgement of receipt of your online application will be sent automatically by email to you, when the College system registers your application. If you are not selected for interview, given the number of applications we receive it is not always possible to let you know you've been unsuccessful on that occasion. However, we would always welcome future applications for roles advertised in the future. Offers of appointment are conditional upon receipt of satisfactory references, medical clearance, verification of qualifications and, where appropriate, satisfactory criminal record bureau checks and verification of eligibility for working in the UK. It is the policy of Gateshead College to also check that you have certificates for all the qualifications which you have stated that you hold.
