This course is for you if you're looking for a career working as a sports massage therapist in private practice, health and fitness centres or sports clubs. The course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to be able to work in a range of settings and the confidence to work as a professional sports massage practitioner.
You should have a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology and in interest in sport. It would be an advantage to have a prior massage qualification.

As part of the course you will complete a range of written assignments and have the opportunity to gather evidence of at least 50 hours of sports massage practical sessions. As part of the course there is also an anatomy and physiology multiple choice exam.
On successful completion of the course you will be able to practice as a sports massage therapist treating healthy clients as part of their wellbeing programme. If you want to carry on studying, Gateshead College deliver a Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy which qualifies you to treat injuries and clients undergoing rehabilitation programmes.
