We know that you need to spend valuable time outside the classroom – playing gigs, creating in the studio and working with your growing network of industry contacts.

Organise and participate in events from gigs in high-profile venues to club nights and festivals.

Find your own voice in an inclusive, supportive and creative environment, collaborating with like-minded, ambitious writers, performers and producers.

Work with our industry mentors to build your online presence and distribute your product through digital channels, avoiding pitfalls through a sound knowledge of how the industry works that will sustain you throughout your career.

Develop a portfolio career as a performer, songwriter, producer, teacher – whatever suits your personal direction.

Please note: Whilst every effort is made to run all advertised programmes, this programme will run subject to suitable student numbers.

The place of study

Our fantastic Baltic Campus is equipped with some of the best education facilities in the UK. And with industry standard recording studios, rehearsal spaces and a custom built 150 capacity performance theatre, all our music courses are well catered for.

Our facilities are recognised as being among the best in the country. This is one of the reasons that we were chosen as a founder college of the National Skills Academy Creative and Cultural (NSACC), a national network of colleges, companies and venues around the country that aim to improve the skill level within the Creative Industries.

Music and Music Technology are based within the Lower ground floor of the Purpose-built Baltic Campus. This building is equipped with excellent studios, teaching rooms, study areas, sequencing/score publishing workstations and rehearsal rooms.

The campus also offers an excellent library and resource centre, a theatre and open public performance areas as well as meeting rooms and canteen/bistro. All students undertake performances both within the college and in the community in local venues such as theatres, pubs, private clubs, schools and other places. As a student, you are able to make use of many facilities such as the union, sports activities, other courses, student advice centre and access fund as well as those areas mentioned above.
