If you dream of working in the games industry, but don't have the qualifications you need, then our Access to HE Diploma in Games could be for you. Our Access to HE Diplomas provide the ideal way to get on track if you don’t hold the necessary qualifications that you need to get onto a degree course. They will give you the stepping stone to success and support towards a University place.


Our courses provide a level 3 qualification, which prepares our students for life on a degree programme. All our courses run at times to fit around family commitments and better still you could be studying for free. We even offer our students free car parking and run a childcare voucher scheme.


The course has been specifically tailored for adults wishing to enter higher education in the games development sector. Based at our state of the art Baltic Campus, you will study a range of disciplines that will prepare you for life as a games related HE student. These will range from 3D modelling, games’ engines, digital animation and game development.


Your learning will be developed by industry professionals, delivering marketable design and software skills in applications such as: 3DS Max, Zbrush, the Adobe Masters collection, Unreal Development Kit, Unity and others. You will also discover how the industry works and what you will need to succeed in a highly competitive future.


This widely recognised qualification is specifically tailored to those adults who wish to change their career prospects and has no upper age limit. Our Access team has a wealth of academic and vocational experience to provide you with the knowledge and support required to fulfil your ambitions. 


This course is not a higher education programme but is designed upon successful completion to enable you to go on to study a higher education course. Before coming to one of our enrolment events you need to know which Access to HE Diploma you need to study to get onto your degree course. By using http://www.ucas.com you can search the subject to find which university offers which degree programme and what the entry requirements for the course are. If you are unable to find the information you need, every higher education institution has admissions staff who will be happy to help you with course information.


Upon applying for the Diploma you will need to have an interview, complete initial assessments for maths, English and comprehension, at one of our enrolment events, before being accepted on the course.  This whole process can take up to 3 hours. therefore it is advisable to arrive early at the advertised enrolment events.  In preparation for the initial assessments it is strongly suggested that you familiarise yourself with http://move-on.org.uk/ and complete the practice tests. If these requirements are not met, we'll provide you with advice and guidance to help you find a suitable alternative to this course.

Get the employment edge without worrying about up front fees. If you’re under 24 years old, you may be eligible to study for free if you don't already hold a Level 3 qualification or you are on eligible benefits. If you are aged 24 years or over, a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan is available loans are available and if you go on to complete a higher education programme then you don’t pay it back.

Qualifications needed

Ideally, five GCSE grades A*-C (9 - 4) including English and maths. An interview and some experience of art, design or computing.

The cost of this course varies depending on your age and circumstances. If you are under 19 years old, this course is free.

If you are aged over 19 years old you may qualify for free or reduced price course fees, depending on your circumstances.

If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years or over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
