If you'd like to study at degree level but don’t hold the necessary qualifications, our Access to HE Diploma in Science could be for you.

Our courses provide a Level 3 qualification, which prepares you for life on a degree programme. All our courses run at times to fit around family commitments and you get free car parking and access to our childcare voucher scheme.

The QAA Access to HE Diploma is awarded by One Awards and recognised for entry to Higher Education courses across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Course Content

This programme consists of five subject sets:

  • Biology - covering Cell and Molecular Biology, Cell Reproduction and Chromosomal Expression, Anatomy and Physiology of Organ Systems.

  • Biochemistry- chemical structure and role of biological molecules.

  • Chemistry - Atomic Structure, Bonding and the Periodic Table, Fundamental Principles of Physical Chemistry, Investigative Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Chemical Applications

  • Physics - Basic Mechanics, Heat Materials and Atoms, Oscillations and Waves, Electricity, Fields and Electromagnetism

  • Mathematics -  Algebra, Number, Geometry and Trigonometry

We will then invite you into our next Enrolment Event for an interview and to complete initial assessments for maths, English and comprehension, so we can be sure you're ready to join the programme. We'll then let you know if we can accept you onto the programme.

    The cost of this course can vary depending on your age and circumstances:

    • If you are aged 18 this course is free.
    • If you are aged 19 - 23 and this is your first full level 3 qualification this course is free.
    • If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years or over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan to cover the costs. If you go onto to complete a higher education degree course the remaining balance of your loan will be 'written off' which means you won't have to pay it back.
    • If you pay the full fee upfront on enrolment, you will qualify for a 10 % discount.
