If you have successfully completed a Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification within the last 5 years then this one-year, Level 3 course is for you.
Throughout the course you will work with experienced therapists in our Baltic Salon and Spa who will support your development and give you an insight into the industry. You will follow a programme of innovative, challenging and exciting beauty units that will include facial techniques, body electro therapy, body massage and epilation.
You will be trained by Dermalogica to use their skin care products, which are only available from professional skincare therapists. You will also get the opportunity to get hands on experience at professional salons and take part in enrichment courses to gain additional skills in areas such as spray tanning, hot stone therapy and Caflon ear piercing.
You will have the opportunity to perfect your customer care skills including working on reception, booking appointments, welcoming clients and interacting with paying customers. You will also be supported in entering national industry competitions.
You will be assessed through assignments, tests and practical observations on a range of beauty techniques that are carried out on paying clients.
This course will prepare you to progress straight into employment in the beauty industry in a salon, spa, health farm, clinic, hotel cosmetic company or even on cruise liners. A beauty therapist can expect to earn between £12,000 to £17,000 a year and salon managers can earn over £20,000 a year. This industry also lends itself perfectly to setting up your own business and being your own boss.
If you want to progress within education, you can go into higher education (UCAS points available for this course) or a Level 4 qualification or Foundation Degree in complementary health, care or beauty therapy.
