In this basic electrical installation course you will learn about electrical circuits, systems and installation methods used to power and light buildings.


You will cover a variety of electrical cabling systems and enclosures used in domestic, commercial and industrial premises.

During the course you will also study topics covering safe working practices and Health and Safety legislation applicable to the construction industry, as well as basic electrical scientific theories.

This course will enable you pick up the core skills necessary to progress on to the L2 Electrical Installation

An interview is required and guidance is required.

Qualifications needed

2 GCSEs grade D (3) or above, ideally including maths and English or equivalent.

This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
