Section 1: Subject Overview

 

Btec Business lessons take place within the A-level department @ Gateshead Sixth Form Baltic Campus.  The course is specifically designed for those who enjoy looking at the main functions of Business such as Human Resources, Finance, Operations and Marketing.  A broad overview of key areas are delivered across the academic year.  This allows students to become familiar with Business processes and considers the context of the wider Business environment.  Over the year there will be six units studied with a varying number of assessments.  Modules typically range from marketing to recruitment processes and allow the student to gain underpinning knowledge within each.

The course is a mixture of academic and practical based lessons alongside independent study...

Section 2: Assessment Overview

All units are internally assessed in the BTEC qualifications in this specification. All assessment for the BTEC qualifications in this specification is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified learning outcomes. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria which are to be used for grading purposes. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction.

Many of our students will study a related combination of A-levels such as Sociology, Psychology, History, Government and Politics, Media and English.

Qualifications needed

Average grade 6 GCSE profile (Higher entry criteria is required for anyone looking to study Maths and/or Sciences at A Level). However, if you do not meet this profile please still come to an Open Event to discuss all options with a member of the A Level Team.

This course is free to those aged 19 years and under.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced course fees. This depends on your individual circumstances.

If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 or over you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee in full upfront, minus a 10% discount.
