We deliver the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Sport specifically to meet the needs of primary schools to supplement their existing school sport workforce and increase their capacity to deliver PE and wrap around care.
The apprentice will be based in your school and attend our Academy for Sport campus two days per month so they can benefit from the world class sporting facilities available. They will study a number of units including:
- Support the Work of your Team and Organisation
- Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Physical Activity
- Prepare for Activity Sessions
- Lead Activity Sessions
- Conclude and Review Activity sessions
- Promote Health, Safety and Welfare in Active Leisure and Recreation
- Support Equality and Diversity in Active Leisure and Recreation
These units will provide the apprentices with the skills to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate activity sessions. In addition to this, they will also develop those generic skills that are so important to schools, including effective communication, team working and customer service skills. They will be able to provide a quality, welcoming, safe and motivating environment for activities to take place. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to support regional sporting festivals and events in addition to their school role. This will enhance the sport provision that schools are able to provide.
Apprentices are allocated an assessor who supports them throughout their whole apprenticeship via in school assessments, 1:1 reviews, mentor meetings, advice and guidance.
