Advanced Apprenticeship In Health and Social Care

The level 3 advanced apprenticeship in health and social care has been designed by health and social care employers and the sector skills council it will build on the skills, behaviours and knowledge required of employees in or wanting to progress to a lead adult care worker role, enabling them to provide high quality compassionate care and support and work to employer expectations. The training is relevant to a range of care settings including residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings.

This apprenticeship will help build the personal attributes and behaviours expected of Lead adult care workers.

Apprenticeship Content

The training will help employees to develop the following personal attributes and behaviours:

• Care – is caring consistently and enough about individuals to make a positive difference to their lives

• Compassion – is delivering care and support with kindness, consideration, dignity, empathy and respect

• Courage – is doing the right thing for people and speaking up if the individual they support is at risk

• Communication – good communication is central to successful caring relationships and effective team working

• Competence – is applying knowledge and skills to provide high quality care and support

• Commitment – to improving the experience of people who need care and support ensuring it is person centred

  • Work to best practice in carrying out delegated clinical duties

  • Work as part of a team, seeking help and guidance when they are not sure
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
  • Use a range of techniques for infection prevention and control including waste management, hand washing and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Move and position individuals, equipment and other items safely
