Intermediate Apprenticeship in Construction - Maintenance Operations

This apprenticeship is delivered on day release over two years. The apprentice spends one day per week in college and the rest of the week will be spent at work. College training consists of a mixture of workshop and theory where the apprentice will be taught the various trades in specialist workshops. At the end of their training apprentices will have a good foundation of construction skills and be able to operate competently on their three specialist areas.

This course focuses upon health and safety, the handling and storage of materials, productive working practices, delivering reliable customer service and, depending upon the route taken within the pathway: repairing or renewing wood products, plumbing, wall and floor tiling, decorating, bricklaying and plastering.

Apprentices will study the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 NVQ in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment (Construction)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations (Construction)
  • Level 1 Functional Skill Maths
  • Level 1 Functional Skill English
  • Employees Right and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Apprentices are required to compile a portfolio of evidence from jobs completed at work. The college assessor will visit regularly to assist with this and provide feedback to both employer and apprentice with progress and timely completion targets.

This apprenticeship is ideal for the social housing or property maintenance sectors.
