Advanced Level Apprenticeship In Plumbing and Heating

Apprentices spend one day per week in college and the rest of the week at work. Training consists of practical workshop sessions and theory sessions where they are taught how to install and service boilers. The successful apprentice will be awarded CCN1, MET1, CPA1, CENWAT1 and CONGLP1PD at the end of the apprenticeship.

Apprentices will study core plumbing subjects and will also choose from two optional units - gas route or environmental route. Apprentices will gain evidence from their place of work, which will contribute towards the achievement of their apprenticeship.

Apprentices will study the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 NVQ Plumbing & Heating
  • Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
  • Level 2 Functional Skill Maths
  • Level 2 Functional Skill English
  • Level 1 Functional Skill ICT
  • Employees Right and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

All apprentices are required to compile a portfolio of jobs demonstrating the range of installations and repairs they have completed. The college assessor will visit regularly to assist with the portfolio and provide the apprentice and employer with updates on progress.  Progress is tracked and available for all parties to see via our online e-portfolio system.
