This qualification is intended to guide and assess development of knowledge and skills relating to early learning and childcare, social care and the learning development and support services workforces with Children and Young People . 

The qualification confirms competence in these areas where appropriate and serves as the required qualification (for all new practitioners) for registration and regulatory requirements in the sector. 

Potential job roles for those working towards this qualification would include:  children & young people care/support worker; children’s centre worker;  nursery school assistant and youth and community worker.

The Apprenticeship programme can be an entry into employment for those individuals seeking employment in this sector or for individuals who are already employed and are seeking a related qualification in the sector.


An interview is required, references are required and a DBS check is required.

How to apply

The cost of this course varies depending on your age and circumstances.

If you are under 19 years old, this course is free.

If you are aged over 19 years old you may qualify for free or reduced price course fees, depending on your circumstances.

If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
